Fr. Summers greets those who attended one of the receptions held June 19/20 in honor of The Year for Priests.  Parishioners expressed their gratitude to Frs. Summers and Thomas for all that they do in our parish. 

Relay For Life

Father Thomas and Jackie Lynn line up for the 'Survivor's Lap' which opened the Relay for Life.

Father Thomas gave the opening prayer June 18 at the Relay for Life sponsored by The American Cancer Society.  It was held at the Jefferson Fairgrounds.  Nearly 600 participated in the Relay. 
 

Father Thomas helped serve dinner to the ladies of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas at their Spring Dinner, 2010.  Pictured with Father are Chuck Guglielmo, Dorothy Brooks - Regent of the CD of A, Jesse Carey, and John Roach.

The rose colored vestment is only worn twice during the liturgical year - on the 3rd Sunday in Advent, previously known as "Gaudete" (meaning 'joyful') Sunday and the 4th Sunday of Lent, previously known as "Laetare" (meaning 'praise or joy') Sunday.  The color symbolizes the Church's joy in each season as the birth of Christ draws near in Advent and Christ's resurrection is soon to be celebrated as the Church enters the midpoint of Lent.
